Ruth and Stacey met in March 2007 at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project’s Saturday Reunion. Ruth attended Stacey’s session, which was about grant writing. Even though Ruth and Stacey live 565 miles apart, they’re in touch daily.  They’re presently writing a book together, which will be published in the Fall of 2010 by Stenhouse Publishers.  Ruth and Stacey blog at Two Writing Teachers.

 
RUTH AYRES

Ruth has been in education since 2000. Her first years were spent teaching seventh graders language arts.   She is a Writing Coach for Wawasee School District, located in Northern Indiana.

Ruth obtained a M.S. Ed. in Educational Leadership and a B.S. in Secondary Education, both from Indiana University. She has gleaned much knowledge from the professional development offered by the All-Write Consortium.  


Ruth lives in Indiana with her husband and three children.
STACEY SHUBITZ

Stacey is a certified literacy specialist who provides balanced literacy consulting to elementary schools.  She taught fourth grade for two years when she lived in Rhode Island.  Prior to that, she was a fifth grade teacher in East Harlem, for three years, after changing careers from public relations to education.  Stacey co-authored a book with ten of her former students, and her former student teacher, entitled  DEAL WITH IT! Powerful Words from Smart, Young Women (2007). 

Stacey has a M.A. in Literacy Education from Teachers College at Columbia University, a M.S.Ed. in Childhood Education from Hunter College and a B.A. in Communication from The George Washington University.

Stacey lives in Pennsylvania with her husband.
